The Brightlights return to form with the release of their new single '3' on June 16th.
After a long wait, The Brightlights are set to release their new single on June 16th; the eagerly-anticipated 3.
Produced by Steve Power, the driving force behind Robbie Williams, 3 is a rollercoaster ride through the darker side of relationships and those girls who can twist any situation in their favour. It's punchy and full of teenage angst. We're not thinking Dawson's creek 'angst'- 3 is full of raw, angry emotion beautifully illustrated by the raspy, hypnotising vocals of lead singer Leon Blanchard.
The single also includes the track Another Night, a stirring anthem that discusses the eternal friction between girlfriend and best friend, and all the cringeworthy situations that can arise.
The Brightlights have received critical acclaim for their music and 3 is a shining example of their talent. They are unbelievable storytellers; taking the audience on a journey through growing pains, love and loss, all the while creating powerful tracks fired by crashing drums and intricate guitar melodies. Despite the usual exam stresses and college work, the band managed to play over 200 shows last year while taking time out of the recording studio to raise their live profile, including an appearance at V Festival and slots supporting major artists such as The Hoosiers, Scouting For Girls and newcomers, The Rascals.
It's hard to imagine this talented group began their life as members of the same football team in their native Grimsby.
