Three is the magic number for Monkeys’ Alex.
Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has bagged his third number one album after the debut record from his new musical project topped the charts.
The Last Shadow Puppets – a duo of Turner and Miles Kane – shot straight to the top spot after the release of The Age Of The Understatement.
The pair recorded the album while the Arctic Monkeys and Kane’s band, The Rascals, had some time off between commitments.
With its bold string arrangements, distinctive acoustic guitar and harmonised vocals, the best-selling record has so far received positive reviews from the press.
To date, The Last Shadow Puppets have only performed a few gigs. However, fans of the duo will be pleased to hear that they are reportedly hoping to tour this autumn.
The Age of the Understatement is the fifth UK debut album this year to enter the charts in prime position, mirroring the success of Amy McDonald, Adele, Duffy and Scouting For Girls.
